In vitro tests of skin irritability and corrosivity
ARVYS Proteins Inc offers its services to meet the growing demand for in vitro alternatives to the animal product safety testing in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, consumer product and chemical industries.
ARVYS is qualified by Mattek to perform toxicology testing using Mattek 3D human skin model, EpiDerm. The test measurs the effect of a test material on skin cell survival and on cytokine production. We will be happy to discuss alternative tests if they are required.
EpiDerm has been successfully utilized as an alternative to in vivo toxicology tests for dermal corrosivity and skin irritation. The responses elicited by test materials using the EpiDerm tissue model based on human keratinocytes more closely approximate the skin irritation responses that are seen in human subjects than responses seen with animal skin.
The EpiDerm is now a validated alternative test procedure to the Draize Rabbit Skin Corrosion Test in both the European Union (EU) and the United States.
